Little Critter Inspired Kids Books {Review & Giveaway}

As a teacher, I'm very familiar with Mercer Mayer's Little Critter books.  They are wonderful and a great read for early elementary aged students.  Well, now Thomas Nelson is thrilled to bring this beloved brand to the Christian market with the launch of Inspired Kids, a new line of faith-based books featuring Little Critter!

You Go First  is inspired by Matthew 7:12 "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." Little Critter wants to go first at everything!  He starts to forget that getting along with his friends is more important than being first all of the time.  Eventually he learns that treating others like you want to be treated is the way to go!

It's True is inspired by the verse John 8:32 "Then you will know the truth.  And the truth will make you free."  Little Critter is going around telling a lot of half truths and not the whole truth.  He ends up disappointing his friends and family with his all of his lies.  After a heart to heart with his Grandpa he decides that telling the whole truth is always the right choice.

These adorable books teach great lessons!  They are appropriate for ages 2-7, but probably best for ages 4-7.  Tommy Nelson is giving away both of these books to one lucky reader!  Enter using the Giveaway Tools below.

Giveaway is open to U.S. and ends at 11:59 p.m. on 11/8.

Nuby Foam Bath Animals Review

As Little Guy gets older he enjoys his bath time each night more and more.  I knew that he would enjoy Nuby's newer bath toy line and we were eager to review the some of their bath products!

From Nuby: The Nûby™ Foam Bath Animals bring underwater creatures to your little one’s bath time! The characters float in the water and when wet will stick to the bathtub wall providing countless hours of bath time fun! The fun colorful characters will delight and amuse your little one while stimulating their senses.

Little Guy loved these foam bath animals from the moment I took them out of the package!  I love that these can help make bath time learning time too.  Each night when he plays with them we talk about the colors of each animal and, of course, the name of animals.  We even throw the sounds the animals make (if I know what they sound like!) since Little Guy he really into animals sounds.  He can now make the sounds of a cow, lion, puppy, cat, and monkey when you ask him.  So cute! We're working on the fish sound (blub, blub, blub) now with our foam animals in the bath.

There are actually 2 of each animal in the package, so I took 1 of each out for him to play with now and am saving the other set for down the road, as I'm sure these will get worn out from being played with EVERY night!  Apparently, these even make great teether options too!  As you can see below, Little Guy is a fan. :)

Buy It:  You can buy the Nûby Foam Bath Animals at,,,,,  BuyBuy Baby, Bealls, and other online retailers.

Smarty Pants Vitamins Review & Giveaway #whatevergoes

Welcome to the "Whatever Goes" Giveaway Hop hosted by Mommy's Favorite Things and Mama's Baby Cupcakes

This hop is an open theme so whatever the blogger wants to showcase goes!! After visiting my giveaway, make sure you use the linky below to take a look at the other bloggers and see what they have to offer! Each blog has a minimum prize package of $25 per winner.

SmartyPants Vitamins

I'm giving away a bottle of Smarty Pants Adult Complete Vitamins.
Smarty Pants are the only gummy vitamin that has the Omega 3's, Vitamin D and Multivitamin that you need on the market today!  SmartyPants Gummies for Grown-Ups uses the highest quality ingredients and the most effective and natural forms of important nutrients.

The gummies are about the size of a normal gumdrop candy.  There is no high fructose corn syrup in these yummy gummies, only natural organic cane sugar to sweeten them for the best taste.  I love that SmartyPants uses no artificial sweeteners (you never really know how safe those are for you), colors, or preservatives in their gummies.
The gummies come in three flavors in each bottle: lemon, orange, and cherry.

These are actually very tasty.  The lemon flavor was definitely my favorite and the cherry was my least fave, although it was still good.  Not too sweet, but definitely sweet enough that you feel like you're eating candy.  So, be sure to keep these out of reach of your little ones!  One daily serving of these vitamins is 6 gummies.  That's a little more sweet gummies than I prefer to eat every day, but to be sure you get all your nutrients and vitamins, six is correct dosage for adults.  SmartyPants also makes vitamins for kids too!

Follow & Connect:  Like SmartyPants on Facebook or contact them via their website.

Buy It:  You can buy a bottle of SmartyPants Adult Vitamins on their website for $29.95.

Win It:
Giveaway is open to U.S. only and ends 11/11 at 11:59 p.m.

DIY: Tutu Diaper Cake

My best friend is about to have her 3rd baby girl.  So soon she'll have 3 girls under 3. Yeah, you read that right! She's super women for sure! We had a little "sprinkle" to help her celebrate and I was in charge of the diaper cake. I've actually made diaper cakes for her first 2 girls and I thought the last one should be the best.  Browsing Pinterest one day I saw a super cute tutu diaper cake and thought I could definitely make that and this was my creation.

It was actually pretty easy. I've made a handful of diaper cakes in my day, so I had that part down.  To make the actual diaper cake you will need: a box of diapers, about 75 small clear rubberbands, about 8 regular to large size rubber bands, and a paper towel roll.

I used about 65-75 size 2 diapers for this 3 tier cake.  The first thing you have to do is roll all of the diapers and secure them with small clear rubber bands.  I used a paper towel roll as the middle support for this cake.  I've used bottles before too, but I feel like the paper towel roll was sturdier and easier to use. Put a big rubber band around paper towel roll and then stick the diapers under the rubber band and around it the roll.  The rubber band will secure them around the roll.  Then, put another rubber band around the first layer of diapers and stick the next layer of rolled diapers under the rubberband until the first layer is completely surrounded.  Follow the same step again to make the third layer.  Then, you do it again with two layers to make the second tier of the cake.  And one more time to make the top tier of the cake.  (I'm so sorry I didn't take any pictures of this process, but there are a ton of videos out there that you can use to help you.)

After I had the diaper cake made, I went shopping at Hobby Lobby for my tutu supplies.  I got 2 stretchy headbands, 2 big flower clips, 2 spools of tulle (one light pink, one dark pink), and a big artificial flower for the top.  What I love about this tutu diaper cake is that my BFF's little girl can actually wear the tutu and headband after the diaper cake is taken apart!

First, I cut the tool in about 16 inch pieces.  I guessing I used about 16-20 pieces of each color.  Then I secured one of the headbands around a basket to make it easier to knot the tulle on the headband.

You use a simple slip knot to secure the tulle to the headband.  Just fold the piece of tulle in half, slip the folded end through the headband and pull the ends of the tulle through.  Then, tighten the knot on the headband by pulling on the ends of the tulle.

Keep on doing this around the whole headband alternating the colors of the tulle.  Then, just attach the flower clip to the tutu and put it around the 2nd tier of the diaper cake.  Add the second headband to the first tier of the cake and then add the second flower clip.   Cut the artifial flower the right size to sit just at the top of the cake and stick it in the paper towel tube.  To finish it off, sit your cake on a cake stand and trim the bottom of the tutu so it's all even.

Perfect for your next baby shower!  Have you ever made a diaper creation?

Pediped Shoes Review- The Next Best Thing To Barefeet!

pediped® next best thing to bare feet

As my little guy is getting older it has been getting more important for me to find some nice shoes that really fit him.  He's about 13 months old now, but he's still not fully walking.  He's taking plenty of steps here and there, and he has been for a couple of months, but he's definitely still in the transition to walking phase.  So, I wanted to find a shoe that wouldn't hinder his ability to learn to walk.  Pediped's (as their slogan says) is the next best thing to bare feet, so I thought they would be a great first "real" shoe for my son.  He also has really wide feet, so it's been quite a challenge finding the shoe with the right fit.  I made sure to let the very helpful people at Pediped know about Little Guy's wide width feet and they guided me in the direction of the pediped Originals® Adrian in Chocolate Brown.

The Adrian's are the perfect shoe for babies and toddlers learning how to walk.  The sole is all leather and really provides the flexibility that toddlers need since the soft sole can closely mimic the feeling of walking in bare feet.   In fact, these are the kind of soles that doctors recommend!   I love that while wearing this shoe Little Guy's feet can still move, grip and feel the floor.  The pediped Originals shape also really closely resembles the natural shape of the foot which makes them even more comfortable.  My Little Guy usually doesn't even try to take off these shoes which is a really good thing!  He's actually lost a shoe or two before after trying (and successfully) taking off other brands of shoes.

The Chocolate Brown color of these Adrian's make them super versatile.  They match with pretty much any outfit that I want Little Guy to wear which I love.  It sure makes getting him dressed each day even easier.  The Velcro strap makes the shoes very easy to get on too.  I definitely appreciate that aspect.  As I mentioned earlier, Little Guy has really wide feet and, at times, even getting shoes on him seems far too difficult then it should.  With other shoes, I felt like I was having to stuff his little foot in there and I was always so afraid I was hurting his toes.  With the Adrian's it has been really easy to slip his foot into the shoe.  I used the size guide when choosing the size to order for Little Guy and it was spot on, so be sure to reference it before getting your next pair of pedipeds.

Overall, we are very happy with our pepidiped's and I definitely recommend them!  They are a wonderful shoe and I plan on purchasing more in the future.  After all, they are even approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association for promoting healthy foot development!

Follow & Connect:  You can Like pediped on Facebook and follow them on Twitter or Pinterest.

Buy It:  Visit pediped's website to buy a pair for your child.

Win It:  Come back on Thursday during the "Treat Yourself" Giveaway Hop and enter to win a pair of pedipeds for your little guy or girl!

So, I'm a teacher...

If you have been following me lately, you may have figured out that I am back to teaching 2nd grade this year.  Along with going back to teaching this year I've also started a little TPT (Teachers Pay Teachers) store.  I figured since I'm already making it for my class I might as well put it out there for other teachers or homeschooling parents.  I teach 2nd grade so most of my products are geared toward 2nd grade Common Core standards, but there are some things that would great for 1st grade, 3rd grade, and just elementary school students in general.  I'm planning on starting a 2nd blog that will be geared just towards teaching, but I think that is still a little ways off (since starting a new blog is super time consuming).  So, for now, I thought I'd share some of the things you can find at my store.  Be sure to follow me on TPT to notified whenever I add a new product.  I like to put out freebies pretty regularly and you wouldn't want to miss any of those!

My latest product is a Thanksgiving Theme Math Worksheet Pack.  It covers place value, basic addition & subtraction facts, 2-digit addition and subtraction, odd and even, 10 more and 10 less, story problems and counting by 5's and 10's.

My most popular products right now are my Owl Themed Reading Comprehension Strategy Posters and my Place Value Worksheet Pack.

Here's some great FREEBIES I have in the store right now:

Paw Print Reading Comprehension Strategy Posters

A sample of my Common Core Aligned Reading Literature Graphic Organizers

And, for Halloween, some Addition & Subtraction Worksheets.

Thanks for all of your support and I'll be sure to keep you posted on when my new teaching blog is up and running for those of you that are interested in following. :)

Hooligan Bear is an adorable new series by Ian Toynton about five friends and all of their adventures, and perfect to bring along on your little one's next traveling adventure.  Kids will love the stories about the importance of friendship and the colorful illustrations.

The first book, Home, sets the stage for the series.  Hooligan and his nephew, Little Louie, return home to their bear factory and find out that it's been closed.  They have to figure out what they are going to do.  Hooligan and Louie figure out just how special they are to each other.

"And will we be together?" asked Little Louie as he wiped a tear from his face.
"Yes," replied Hooligan, "As we always have."

The next book, New Friends,  Hooligan and his nephew, Little Louie, were living on a shelf in an empty bear factory.  One day a box falls off a truck and the original two bears soon find out they won't be along for much longer.  Three more bears join the pack and a beautiful friendship begins.

"They talked about the journeys they had taken and the worlds they had seen and how they would always look out for each other, because that's what friends are for."

The third book, A Special Day, is all about all the bears helping Little Louie celebrate his birthday for the first time!  The bears go on quite an adventure to their local bakery as part of the main plan to get a cake for Little Louie.  Along the way, they also pick up trinkets as gifts for Louie too.

"Hooligan sat by the window and knew it had been the very best day of Little Louie's life."

Nuby's Easy Grip Bottle Brush Review

If you're like me you're probably OVER washing bottles!  Luckily for me, Little Guy is getting closer to getting weaned off the bottle, but for now the new Easy Grip Bottle Brush by Nuby makes cleaning my bottles super easy!

The Easy Grip Bottle Brush has a soft, textured handle so you can be sure it's not going to slip out of your hand with all the soapy suds.  You are able to maintain a secure and comfortable grip whenever you use this brush.  The main brush has soft nylon bristles to sweep away any residue left in your bottle.  The bristles are durable too.  It also has a spongy tip to easily reach all areas of your bottles and cups that need to be cleaned.  I've been using this brush for awhile now and it still looks new (and we wash about 3-4 bottles a day right now, plus sippy cups).  This brush also has a convenient Nipple Brush that stores inside the handle of the main brush.  There's good drainage in the handle, so the nipple brush easily dries out.

Follow & Connect:  Like Nuby on Facebook or follow them on Twitter.

Buy It:  You can purchase the Easy Grip Bottle Brush at CVS, Kmart, JC Penney, Ross, and other retailers.

Also, check out this giveaway from Nuby on their Facebook page!  You have until 11:59 p.m. 10/3 to enter!
